New Church
Construction of new church – Facts
WHY A NEW CHURCH..?
Due to lack of space, the church was extended in 1958. The interior measurement of the present church excluding Madubaha and Hykla is only 32ft x 14 ft. Later, a veranda was added on the northern side of the church with aluminum roofing. Further addition on the southern side of the church is not possible as the space available up the compound wall of the Catholic Church is around 8ft only.
The heavy traffic from the road very close to the Madubaha (Road is less than 10 feet from the Madubaha) is a threat to the building and some cracks are developed in the basement and the arch of the Madubaha. The noise from the traffic and near by church is also creating disturbances to the church.
The above problems prompted the parishners to think about a new church.
The new church to be constructed on the north side of the church office building will have a plinth area of about 4610 sq ft. The interior area, excluding Madubaha and Hykla, will be 33 ft x 54 ft and the cost of construction is expected to be around rupees 50 lakhs.
SOURCE OF FUND
Even though there are 104 families in the parish, most of the members are financially backward and they are not in a position to raise the required fund by their own contribution. Hence we solicit the prayerful contribution from our well wishers for this noble purpose.
A special committee for the construction is constituted and an SB A/C “ St.Thomas Jacobite Syrian Church Construction Fund” is opened in Kulasekharamangalam branch of state bank of Travancore exclusively for this purpose and the account number is 67039469798
